Choking Mannequins
The Choking Mannequins are life-size torsos which enable students to practice a range of airway clearing techniques.
Realistic Design
To enable accurate training, the mannequins feature a realistic design. The surface is made from durable vinyl which provides a realistic feeling of skin to help students understand how to clear an airway.
Additionally, the mannequins feature anatomical landmarks, including:
- Ribcage
- Xiphoid process
- Jugular notch
These enable students to learn where exactly they need to apply pressure to clear an airway, no matter the patient's size or age.
A Range of Techniques
The mannequins enable students to learn a range of different airway clearing techniques, including:
- Abdominal/chest thrust back blow - Heimlich manoeuvre
- Mouth sweep
This gives students vital training in key airway clearing techniques in a safe and accurate way.
Different Sizes
The mannequins are available in four different sizes:
- Obese mature choking torso
- Adult choking torso
- Adolescent choking torso
- Child choking torso
Each size enables different specific aspects of airway clearing to be taught.
The Obese mature choking torso enables students to learn how to help a person who is choking who they can't get their hands around, be it due to obesity or pregnancy. The extra layer of synthetic fat on the torso provides an accurate representation of the difficulty of finding the correct place for positioning in overweight people.
The Adult, Adolescent and Child torsos enable students to learn how to correctly clear the airways of people of different ages.
