Density Paradox Set

The Density Paradox Set is a set if two identical plastic cylinders. Each cylinder has a density close to water.

If submerged in hot water, the cylinder will sink to begin with but will float over time, but if submerged in ice-cold water the cylinder will float to begin with but sink over time. This is because the density of the plastic changes more than water does when it is heated or cooled.
