Double Helix Mini DNA Models (22 Segments)

The Double Helix Mini DNA Model (22 Segments) is an excellent teaching aids for any classroom. Using six easily distinguishable colours, each component is easily identified and the following features are clearly displayed:

• Representation of hydrogen bonds between thymine and adenine and the three hydrogen bonds between cytosine and guanine
• Representation of major and minor grooves on the surface of the double helix
• Purine bases (adenine, guanine) and pyrimidine bases (cytosine, thymine) that differ in size

Forming a right-handed double helix, the model displays bases containing nitrogen as well as pentoses and phosphate groups from which DNA is composed. Ideal for classroom demonstration, the model can be used to demonstrate DNA replication as well as complementary base pairing.
