What Is the Purpose Of This Breast Phantom?

The Erler-Zimmer Breast Ultrasound Phantom is a female manikin designed to enable diagnostic practise, specifically for using an ultrasound to identify cysts versus dense masses. It is also possible to observe and evaluate cysts of different sizes and depths in order to develop the skills needed to identify and diagnose cysts in the breasts.

What Does Each Removable Breast Depict?

The left breast contains six dense masses, and three randomly orientated cysts. This enables training on the difference between cysts and dense masses. The right breast contains six cysts, each with a different size and depth. The cysts can be used to teach ultrasound guided needle aspiration, while the dense masses can be used to teach ultrasound guided needle biopsies.
