Pythagorean Cup

The Pythagorean Cup was used by Pythagoras to illustrate to his students the virtues of moderation: when filled halfway, the cup retains its contents, but if too full, all of the liquid drains out through a hole in the bottom. The secret of the construction is a siphon, which is built into the center of the cup.

This Pythagorean Cup is manufactured from hand-blown, clear glass. It provides an ideal way of demonstrating to students the principle of a siphon in a fun and engaging way, and with a historical background.
