Millikan's Apparatus

A compact instrument for demonstrating the discrete nature, or quantisation, of electric charge. The Millikan's Apparatus can also be used to determine the elementary charge of an electron.

The apparatus includes an experiment chamber kit, for assembly with a plate capacitor and connected oil atomiser, a lighting unit with two green LEDs, a measuring microscope and a display unit with touch screen.

Measurements can be made using the floating method or the rising and falling method. Measured rise and fall times for a charged droplet of oil are displayed on the touch screen along with the configured voltage.

The parameters relevant to the evaluation of the results, temperature, viscosity and pressure are also displayed. The Millikan's Apparatus comes complete with plug-in power supply, ready for use.
